Bespoke Work & Commisions
From a simple gold wedding band to a cluster set diamond and sapphire engagement ring with lots of sparkle, bespoke jewellery often holds much more value than just its price tag.
Here at Oakland Jewellery, i’ve been lucky enough to be involved with engagements, birthdays, anniversaries and weddings for almost twenty years. I’ve been trusted to make engagement rings for friends and family, colleagues and of course new clients, and I take the same care and pride in my work whether i’m working on a platinum and diamond ring or a simple silver pendant.
I’m happy to take on commission work in silver as well as platinum and gold, so commissioning your own piece doesn’t need to break the bank!
How It Works
Step 1
Give us a call or drop us an email to discuss ideas, and book for in for a free initial consultation. I’ll ask the right questions to take your ideas and run with them, using my technical expertise gained over almost 20 years at the bench to bring what’s in your imagination to life. I can call in a selection of stones for you to view to fit your designs and budget, from diamonds and sapphires to opals, pearls, tourmalines and tanzanites, there’s sure to be a unique gemstone for you to fall in love with.
Step 2
Once I know what you’re looking to achieve, I can sketch up a choice of designs for you to choose from, and make any changes requested until your new design is looking just how you want it. Don’t worry, this is free of charge, and there’s no obligation to proceed at this point in the unlikely event that I can’t capture just what you’re looking for.
Step 3
Once the design is finalised, i can get started with the fun stuff – out comes the blowtorch, saw and hammers; i’ll start either by bending and shaping straight into metal or carving and sculpting your piece in wax, then take your new bespoke jewellery through all the filing, sanding, and polishing processes before carefully setting any gemstones and giving it a final buff to bring it up to a perfect mirror finish.
Step 4
Now your new piece is finished, all that’s left is for you to wear it!

I would like to say a HUGE thank you to Wendy Booth of Oakland Jewellery. I had a ring that was given to me when I was 11 years old and my Nan passed away. I started wearing it in my 20’s and about 6-7 years ago one gem fell out, followed by 2 more in quick succession and then I lost a 4th. I was understandably distraught but on shopping around I was being quoted costs of around £700 – £800 which I couldn’t warrant. On meeting Wendy at a networking event I showed her my ring and she quoted a much lower costs to fix the ‘arms’ and replace the gems. Within less than a week it was returned to me and in perfect condition. The ring was stunning and I was thrilled. I showed lots of friends and everyone was so impressed. Wendy even created a video so I could see how the work was done from start to finish and the amazing talents that she has. The whole process was very professional from start to finish. The initial conversation was for me to give a little detail about who the gift was for, what sort of ideas I had, and what I did not want! Wendy then gave me a couple of potential pricing brackets and then after my choosing she showed me some amazing visual representations to choose from. I was immediately drawn to one of the images and I let Wendy know my choice which she then set about making. The resulting dragonfly stylized bracelet was beautifully made with care, thought and passion. Which all comes through in the jewellery. All my pieces are designed and handmade on site in my workshop on the western edge of the Fens, and i carry out all repairs and alterations here too so you know your jewellery will be in safe hands.
