Remodelling
Here at Oakland Jewellery I can take your outdated or worn out pieces of jewellery and transform them into something new, all in house in my Peterborough based workshop. Following an initial consultation to chat about designs, I will produce a choice of sketches, free of charge and with no obligation, for you to choose from. Once you’ve found one you like, i can go ahead and get started at the bench smelting, milling, shaping and filing your gold until a new piece of jewellery takes shape.
Over the years i’ve worked with all different types of gemstones, from pearls and peridots to diamonds, sapphires, opals and aquamarines. I’ve handmade rings, pendants, lockets, bracelets and earrings – and of course bespoke fitted wedding bands, hand shaped to match your engagement ring.
I offer bespoke remodelling services in both silver and gold, and if i can’t use your metal, as is the case with platinum or white gold because of it’s high melting point, i can offer scrap value for it as part exchange against the cost of any work.
How it works
Step 1
Give us a call or drop us an email to discuss ideas, and book for in for a free initial consultation. I’ll ask the right questions to take your ideas and run with them, using my technical expertise to bring what’s in your imagination to life.
Step 2
Once i know what you’re looking to achieve, I can sketch up a choice of designs for you to choose from, and make any changes requested until your new design is looking just how you want it. Don’t worry, this is free of charge, and there’s no obligation to proceed at this point if I can’t capture just what you’re looking for.
Step 3
Once the design is finalised, i can get started with the fun stuff – out comes the blowtorch, saw and hammers; i’ll start by smelting down your jewellery (if possible) and then roll and stretch out the metal to just the right dimensions, then hand shape it, file and finish it until it’s sculpted into your new design, then i can set any gemstones and give it a final polish ready for you to collect.
Step 4
Now your new piece is finished, all that’s left is for you to wear it!

Wendy is amazing … I had a ring from my 21st birthday which I just didn’t wear because it was set in yellow gold. I would like to say a HUGE thank you to Wendy Booth of Oakland Jewellery. I had a ring that was given to me when I was 11 years old and my Nan passed away. I started wearing it in my 20’s and about 6-7 years ago one gem fell out, followed by 2 more in quick succession and then I lost a 4th. I was understandably distraught but on shopping around I was being quoted costs of around £700 – £800 which I couldn’t warrant. On meeting Wendy at a networking event I showed her my ring and she quoted a much lower costs to fix the ‘arms’ and replace the gems.
